A Supervisory Councillor for Agriculture in
Mafa Local Government in Borno and four
others have been arrested over alleged
diversion of 300 bags of rice for Internally
Displayed Persons.
According to NAN, the spokesman of the
Economic and Financial Crimes
Commission, Mr Wilson Uwujaren, in a
statement on Thursday said that the rice
was donated to the IDPs by Danish Refugee
Council, an NGO.
EFCC spokesman, the arrest was triggered
by intelligence report.
Uwujaren said some of the suspects had
confessed that the rice was sold to two
traders in the area at the rate of N8, 500
per bag.
The EFCC spokesman said that three other
suspects involved in the diversion were still
at large.
