Secretary of Christian fellowship of Nigeria pastor Crist ogbaliko writes an Open letter to President Mohammed Buhari and the so called state security service.

OPEN LETTER TO MR. PRESIDENT AND DSS OFFICIALS

MR PRESIDENT SIR,
I write to call your attention to the media report of the foiled arrest of Apostle Suleiman, a Christian pastor while on an out-reach in Ekiti.
As reported by the Tribune, Dr. Suleiman of Omega Fire Ministries was alleged to have preached against alleged plots to Islamise Nigeria and had told members of his church back in Auchi, to fight back should they be attacked by herdsmen, who have been targeting Christians for decimation.
What could have been the fate of this man of God had these herdsmen with security ID cards had their way to take him away at 2 am?
Apostle Suleiman is not a security threat to Nigeria. The Fulani herdsmen are.
The apostle represents the collective conscience of us all – faith, liberty and the rule of law.
Let me explain that there is a gradual decent to lawlessness in this country. People now defend themselves when they cannot trust the state to defend them and that was why the man of God called on the governor.
His Excellency Gov. Fayose has no right to stop arrests by DSS but he knows it is also in his oath of allegiance to stand by the constitution and protect the lives and properties of anyone in Ekiti. He knows DSS could have invited the Man of God to their office during the day but they came at night – just like the Fulani herdsmen that Apostle Suleiman had asked Christians to resist.
So DSS operatives can be awake at 2am and they never arrested at least one herdsman anywhere in the country, ambushing villages at that time? According to President Kennedy, Those who make peaceful dialogue impossible are gradually making violent change inevitable.
The polity is getting heated up just like your first coming in 1984.
A little bit of history; under your watch, Brigadier Idiagbon arrested Rev. Dr Uma Ukpai for no reason other than that he is a Christian evangelist.
He went after the respected Archbishop Idahosa while the notorious Sheik Gumi was having a field day fuelling riots against Christians.
This time around, Pastor Adeboye has been coaxed into resigning (in an effort to precipitate crises in churches) and Apostle Suleiman is under hunt.
Even if the courts grant him bail, he will remain under incarceration like Dasuki, Kanu, and Fani-Kayode etc.
Mr President, this is not 1984!
When people are elected to serve the nation and develop its people, they should do just that. Abandoning the purpose of governance to go after Islamization of other people, who are not even interested in Islam, is a travesty of the scoundrel.
Many Islamists in government today think it is an opportunity to show off their zealousness. We will see about that.
Apostle Suleiman’s crime is that he told Christians no longer to be naïve under ceaseless attacks.
The time has come for the Presidency to say at least one sentence to let Islamists know that killing Christians is not an injunction of Prophet Muhammed and even if he wanted Christians killed in place of rams, government is never the machinery to actualize that.
Since your election, islamists have ravaged Christian villages, raped, looted, abducted southern girls and married them off to northern rich men and even beheaded a Christian woman who unfortunately did not have Fayose’s phone number.
These northern Islamists have become gangsters on the loose and NOT A SINGLE ARREST or condemnation yet?
Let me finally explain the God of the Christians. His name is Jehovah and He is hard to pin-point.
He often makes Himself manifest in many ways such as Jehovah Nissi (The Banner of the Christians), Jehovah Shammah (The Lord Is always there for Christians), Jehovah Jireh (The Lord that Provides for Christians), Jehovah Shalom (The Lord that offers Peace to Christians), Jehovah Sabaoth (The Lord that fights Christians’ battles).
He will always show up to intervene for His children.
I advise Fulani people in government to stop provoking Him.
This explanation is not a religious exercise, Mr President; remember Egypt and Pharaoh, there is a memorial of Nebuchadnezzar in Iraq today and of Senecharib in Syria. The Temple mount in Israel is a proof of how He handles recalcitrant people.
There are enough archaeological remnants of what He did to the stiff necked. He is not only the God of history and archaeology; he is also the God of the now as you shall soon see.
Let the Nigerian Muslim leadership call their people in government to order, to at least know where their usefulness stops.
In your first coming, the incessant harassments of Christian ministers led Dr Uma Ukpai and Rev. Ukaegbu to prophesy the end of your regime and it was so.
The hypocrisy of letting herdsmen free to kill and then picking on Apostle Suleiman and other men is something for which his God will not fail to reply you in 2017.
We stand against the shameful silence of Nigerian government over killing of Christians in Nigeria; intimidation/ harassment of the church with state security agencies and the Islamic Agenda of this regime.
The God who did not create Nigeria will not rule Nigeria in Jesus Name.
Christians are now awake!!!!!
This letter was written by the sectry of Christian fellowship of Nigeria.

In response to President Donald Trumps executive
order restricting entry of travelers from seven
Muslim-majority countries including Iran, the Iranian
government has responded announcing it would
also not allow Americans to enter its country.
On Saturday, Iran’s Foreign Ministry released a
statement on state-run media saying:
“While respecting the American people and
distinguishing between them and the
hostile policies of the U.S. government,
Iran will implement the principle of
reciprocity until the offensive U.S.
limitations against Iranian nationals are
lifted. The restrictions against travel by
Muslims to America… are an open affront
against the Muslim world and the Iranian
nation in particular and will be known as a
great gift to extremists.”
Iranian President Hassan Rouhani
condemned President Trump’s actions in
an address at a tourism conference in

The medical association of Nigeria addresses the issue affecting the health sector and why is decaying – NMA

The Nigerian Medical Association on Friday
appealed to the Federal Government to increase
budgetary allocation to the health sector to
improve healthcare delivery in the country.
Dr. Aniekeme Uwah, NMA South-South Caucus
Chairman, made the appeal in an interview with
the News Agency of Nigeria in Uyo.
Uwah, who also spoke on the association’s
forthcoming South-South Retreat, said that the
challenges confronting the nation’s healthcare
delivery were due to inadequate budgetary
provision for the sector.
Uwah noted that an African Heads of State
Summit held in Abuja in 2001 agreed that at least
15 per cent of national budget of African
countries be allocated to health.
He said that Nigeria had never allocated more
than six per cent of its budget to the health
sector.
Uwah said: “That is why you see that doctors in
the South-South going on strike because
budgetary allocation is not up to what they
expect from the Federal Government.”
He recalled that the National Council of Health
meeting held at Umuahia in 2016 passed 58
resolutions on healthcare, 21 per cent of which
were implemented by the government.
Uwah, also the NMA Chairman in Akwa Ibom
State, said the nation’s health sector was in a
“state of decay” and required urgent government
intervention.
He said: “Recently, a World Health Organisation
report showed that out of 191 countries it
accessed, Nigeria rated 187 in terms of
healthcare delivery.”
He said the NMA would assemble doctors from
Akwa Ibom, Bayelsa, Cross River, Delta, Edo and
Rivers States to look at the healthcare service
delivery in the South-South zone during the
retreat.
According to him, the doctors will gather in Uyo
to brainstorm on the challenges bedevilling the
country’s health sector and proffer possible
solutions.
He also stated that a communiqué is expected to
be issued at the end of the retreat.

NCC worries about telecoms consumers’ low activation of ‘2442’ code

Danbatta said in a statement in Lagos on Saturday
that in spite of complaints by consumers of
receiving unsolicited Short Messaging Services, only
few had activated the 2442 code
Prof. Umar Danbatta, the Executive Vice-
Chairman of the Nigerian Communications
Commission, says majority of
telecommunications companies’ customers have
yet to activate the 2442 Do Not Disturb Code.
Danbatta said in a statement in Lagos on
Saturday that in spite of complaints by
consumers of receiving unsolicited Short
Messaging Services, only few had activated the
2442 code.
He said the directive of NCC was an intervention
to stop unwanted messages and calls from
telemarketing companies riding on the crest of
telecommunications infrastructure.
According to him, the directive is a regulatory
response to the yearnings of the subscribers for
protection against the nuisance of unsolicited
messages.
Danbatta noted that there were a number of
initiatives of NCC designed to address the
challenges of telecommunications consumers,
but regretted that subscribers were not utilising
them adequately.
The NCC boss also advised consumers to use
the toll-free line ‘112’ for emergencies and
another toll-free number ‘622’ for complaints
about telecommunications service providers.
He said the commission had directed the
operators to dedicate a common Short Code
(2442) to enable subscribers to take informed
decisions.
According to Danbata, the commission took
cognizance of the broad range of services of the
service providers, which included Banking/
Insurance/Financial Products, Real Estate,
Education, Health, Consumer Goods and
Automobiles in taking the decision.
Others services were Communication/
Broadcasting/Entertainment/IT, Tourism and
leisure, Sports, Religion (Christianity, Islam),
among others.
Danbatta added in the statement: “Hence, the
commission directed the operators to give the
necessary instructions and clarifications that will
enable subscribers subscribe to a particular
service/services or to none.
“In fact, a full DND which is to SMS ‘STOP’ to
2442, does not allow the subscriber to receive
any unsolicited message from the operators at
all.

Six countries barred from entering US in Trump’s Fortress America rule

Donald Trump’s Fortress America policy has
claimed its first victims: Five Iraqi passengers
and one Yemeni were on Saturday barred from
boarding an EgyptAir flight from Cairo to New
York.
The passengers, arriving in transit to Cairo
airport, were stopped and re-directed to flights
headed for their home countries despite holding
valid visas, Reuters has reported.
On Friday, Trump slammed a four-month hold on
allowing refugees into the United States and
temporarily barred travellers from Syria and six
other Muslim-majority countries, saying the
moves would help protect Americans from
terrorist attacks.
In the most sweeping use of his presidential
powers since taking office a week ago, Trump
paused the entry of travelers from Syria and the
six other nations for at least 90 days, saying his
administration needed time to develop more
stringent screening processes for refugees,
immigrants and visitors.
“I’m establishing new vetting measures to keep
radical Islamic terrorists out of the United States
of America. Don’t want them here,” Trump said
earlier on Friday at the Pentagon.
“We only want to admit those into our country
who will support our country and love deeply our
people,” he said.
The order seeks to prioritize refugees fleeing
religious persecution, a move Trump separately
said was aimed at helping Christians in Syria.
That led some legal experts to question whether
the order was constitutional.
One group said it would announce a court
challenge on Monday. The Council on American-
Islamic Relations said the order targets Muslims
because of their faith, contravening the U.S.
Constitutional right to freedom of religion.
“President Trump has cloaked what is a
discriminatory ban against nationals of Muslim
countries under the banner of national security,”
said Greg Chen of the American Immigration
Lawyers Association.
The bans, though temporary, took effect
immediately, causing havoc and confusion for
would-be travelers with passports from Iran, Iraq,
Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria and Yemen.
Trump has long pledged to take this kind of
action, making it a prominent feature of his
campaign for the Nov. 8 election, but people who
work with Muslim immigrants and refugees were
scrambling on Friday night to determine the
scope of the order.
Even legal permanent residents – people with
“green cards” allowing them to live and work in
the United States – were being advised to
consult immigration lawyers before traveling
outside the country, or trying to return, said
Muslim Advocates, a civil rights group in
Washington.
On Friday evening, Abed Ayoub of the American-
Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee said he had
fielded about 100 queries from people anxious
about the order, which he said he believed could
affect traveling green card holders, students,
people coming to the United States for medical
care and others.
“It’s chaos,” Ayoub said.

Genevieve Nnaji resurfaces in AY’s arms

Unlike many of her peers, or shall we say, colleagues,
because Genevieve would not draw up many in the rank
of a peer, at least, not in the industry, has never been too
present on Instagram until lately.
But the real gist here, is that, she posted a picture of
herself and comedian AY, Ayo Makun, displaying a tattoo,
her fans nearly tore off their throats debating whether it’s
fake or not. What brought about this cosy pose? Could
AY be drawing up his cast for his next project ’10 Days in
Sun City’ already? Well, if nothing is brewing, not to worry
Mabel, then success must attract success.

Bayelsa approves N10 billion to upgrade school facilities

The government of Bayelsa State and
relevant stakeholders in civil service
administration on Wednesday in Yenagoa
endorsed a number of reforms aimed at
restructuring the public service for
effective delivery. The meeting was also
aimed at checking the syndrome of ghost
workers and other unwholesome practices.
While the stakeholders of his commitment
to reposition the state public service,
Governor Henry Seriake Dickson called for
the support of stakeholders in the
implementation of the various reforms.
He described as unacceptable, the age long
sharp practices in the state civil service,
adding that the said payment of over N4
billion monthly wage bill could no longer
be sustained. Dickson said that it has
impacted negatively on the developmental
agenda of the restoration government.
According to him, the meeting was
convened to intimate the stakeholders of
the financial position of the state and chart
a way forward in view of the prevailing
economic situation. Some of the reforms as
highlighted by the governor and endorsed
by the stakeholders in attendance include;
approval of N200 million monthly
subvention to the state owned Niger Delta
University. He stressed that only
subventions would be given to tertiary
institutions as against the old practice of
monthly payment of salary.
Also the state government gave approval of
N10 billion for the purpose of upgrading
facilities in all its tertiary institutions
across the state and also instituted a special
Education Safety Corps to ensure the safety
of its schools. The governor urged all
tertiary institutions to key into
government’s vision of adopting a single
accounting system to check fraud, stressing
that education levy would be introduced
for all workers in the state to fund
activities in the sector. According to
Governor Dickson, as part of the reforms,
the state civil service commission will be
reconstituted just as government did to that
of the local government service
commission.
He stressed that further steps would be
taken to re-organize the state’s Ministries,
Departments and Agencies pointing out
that staff with requisite qualifications and
skills would be redeployed to relevant
ministries and institutions. Also, the state
government has created a N10 billion
Enterpreneur Development Fund to
empower people that may voluntarily opt
out of the civil service arising from the re-
organization of the service.
The Governor announced that henceforth,
the State Environmental Sanitation
Authority would be taken out of the
mainstream of the civil service, stating that
only a few and relevant staff would be
deployed on secondment to the authority.
To tackle the problems of absenteeism, and
ghost workers syndrome, attendance
registers have been introduced in all the
MDAs which would be properly monitored
by special teams.
The meeting had in attendance, the
traditional rulers, captains of Industry,
members of the State House of Assembly,
top government functionaries, local
government chairmen to mention but few.

My sister’s husband forcibly had sex with me, my two siblings- 17 year old girl tells Abuja court

A 17-year-old school dropout on Friday
told a Jikwonyi Customary Court, Abuja,
that her sister’s husband forcibly had
sexual intercourse with her, and two other
sisters.
The teenager, who resides in Minna, gave
the testimony as a witness in a divorce
petition filed by her elder sister, Janet
Suleman, against her husband, Philip
Ogho.
She said,

When I was living
with my sister, her
husband attempted to
sleep with me but I
never agreed.
Whenever I refused,
he beat me.“One day
he asked me who I
am, that he can’t have
sex with me, that he
has sexed my other
two sisters living with
them.”
The witness said that her sister’s husband
kept on maltreating her until she gave in to
his request.
“He kept on beating
me, then one day I
could not bear it
again, so I allowed
him to sleep with me.
“He threatened to deal
with me if I tell my
sister. I didn’t tell my
sister but I told the
other two he had sex
with.”

She told the court that she left her sister’s
house because her sister’s husband kept
coming to have sex with her every night.
The Court’s President, Everyman Eleanya,
however, ordered that a hearing notice be
placed at the Ogho’s residence because of
his continued absence in court since the
commencement of hearing in the case.
Eleanya adjourned the case till Jan. 31 for
hearing.
