Why I Don’t Consider Tiwa Savage A Friend – Yemi Alade

There have been rumours of silent war
between two of Nigeria’s foremost women
in music – Yemi Alade and Tiwa Savage. In
a chat with Sunday Spice, Yemi said
although she don’t consider Tiwa a friend,
there’s no beef of any sort between them.
“I don’t know why the media takes
pleasure in pitting great women against
one another,” Yemi said of Tiwa Savage,
Seyi Shay and Chidinma Ekile. Speaking
further, the Mama Africa crooner added,
“Have you ever seen any text message from
any of us lambasting another person?
There’s no proof of these things; it’s just in
the imagination of people.” adding that,
“I’ve never stopped working and I was
already working before Tiwa Savage came
to Nigeria. I am a fan of their music, and
on my Snapchat page, I usually dance to
their songs. I do not consider Tiwa Savage
a friend because I don’t know her favourite
colour or meal and other intimate things.
She is just my colleague.”
The multi award winning songstress also
spoke on the sexual rot in the music
industry. According to her, show
promoters and record label owners are
guilty of this, but once she spots the sign,
she runs. She also mentioned that she had
people in the music industry she looked up
to when she started, but unfortunately they
all wanted s3x too. On her Role models, “In Nigeria, I love P-
Square and Omawumi. Outside the
country, it’s Beyonce and Jay Z.
On her current projects, “We’re working
on my first worldwide tour which would
last about a year. I will visit all the
continents in the world.
